Family Match

Family Match is a program that was started September 12, 2001. A team of WiredPatrol volunteers started searching the Internet for any information that would be of help for the families that were involved the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

This consisted of hospital patient lists, where to go to file missing persons, what info they would need to provide, etc. We tracked Web sites that included information about some of the missing persons. Some were accurate, others were not. We learned which ones to trust and how to get needed information to the families.

We started contacting families and friends that were searching for a loved one. We offered to place the pictures of their loved ones up on our site and also info about the person. Each family was paired up with a WiredPatrol volunteer who helped the family by searching the Internet on any information on the loved one or any other info that would be a help to the family.

Also, many families were not Internet-literate or did not have access to the Internet. WiredPatrol volunteers provided that access for them by gathering and relaying information about their missing loved ones.

The WiredPatrol volunteers became the Internet eyes for the families so that they could turn their time to the off-line work at hand. Our volunteers gave the families support, guided them to the next steps to be taken, were a shoulder and friend.

They gathered information about the missing person, obtained scanned photos which we posted at our site, and included identifying information about the missing person. Any information received about that person was forwarded to us at WiredPatrol to protect the family from harassment and kooks.

The WiredPatrol volunteers assigned stayed with the family until the case was resolved, providing much needed Internet searching expertise and caring.

We also created a prayer and thought board and banners that Web sites could use to link to the information about emergency efforts and victim assistance.

Now we are in the process of matching up families with people, colleges, towns, companies, and/or organizations that are wanting to donate time, money, toys, support for them. We are also taking donations for our K9 Angels program in honor of the families. The K9 Angels program covers the rescue
dogs that were involved with the ground zero work.

Our members are all volunteers that want to help in any way we possible can. We are here to help the families, rescue people, rescue animals, anyone that needs us. We also have plenty of room for new volunteers.

Caring counters terrorism. We support the U.S. President during this troubling time and extend our prayers for the United States of America and the families of victims all over the world, We will all stand united against terrorism.
